The following poem was written by a lovely friend of mine and I thought it was worth sharing with you today:

Paradise Found

When shadow and darkness fuse and spread over this barren land,
The black holes of despair will arise,
Only to be lifted and cast into brilliant sun rays.

The threadbare willows that hang limply with their withered limbs,
Are now torn away,
And evergreens of emerald are planted in their place.

The dried-up waterhole of this deserted, parched land
Is now filled with crystal-clear water
And an elegant spring has sprung,
Reflecting the sad, despondent faces that gather round.

The sandy, arid desert is soaked with sweet-smelling fragrances of beautiful flowers,
And out of this putrid, black snare escapes new life,
In the form of viridian ferns and grasses.

The gnarled, knobbled Oaks stretch up their long, clever fingers to the unseen sun;
Which arises from crumbling mountains and shatters the darkness.

Buds and shoots climb the sky as if on invisible ladders,
And cover the plain with the chorus of winged birds.

Clouds- no more grey and black,
Rest on the arms of the earth and multiply,
Until the sky is no longer blue, but sewn with white patches.

Ethereal lights dance in the shadow of the bog,
As buzzing fireflies light their lamps for the first time,
Igniting hope.

In the retreating darkness one silver pearl shines,
Taking the shape of a crescent,
And tiny stars pinprick themselves into the quiet monotony of the pitch black.

For now,
Risen with a new hope,
The hands of ancient and frail, hopeless friends of hopeless people,
Join together and rejoice;
For God is with them”¦”
